Paper Lions is a Canadian pop rock band hailing from the unlikely small community of Belfast, Prince Edward Island. Brothers John and Rob MacPhee and neighbour Colin Buchanan began playing music together at a very young age in a variety of garage bands.

ALLIE HUGHES is the cool counterpoint to antagonized musical theatre nerds everywhere.

Harvesting the DIY luxury afforded by anyone with a laptop computer, an internet connection and a natural penchant for creative expression, Toronto’s Mark Andrade is set to release his debut EP as Paradise Animals; 7 lush, layered, dream-pop songs that he wrote, recorded, and produced.

As the longest running showcase festival & industry conference in North America, Canadian Music Week knows what’s up.  That’s why, when they decided to expand their creative and special events for the upcoming 2012 festival, they knew exactly who to contact.

Anyone who knows indie music, knows that Steam Whistle knows (and loves) indie music.  They’ve been staple supporters of the Toronto-and-area music community almost as long as they’ve been a brand.  And now that they’ve expanded across the country with their product, they’ve also expanded their support – connecting with artists and communities from coast-to-coast. That’s something that we can get behind.

Fret not, our summertime friends. We’re back.  Over the past 3 summers, Live in Bellwoods has become the most talked-about of all special events at NXNE.  20+ bands performing completely acoustic – without a single watt of power – over 4 afternoons, all within the backdrop of serene Trinity Bellwoods park.

NXNE is the highlight of the summer for artists and fans alike; it’s the cream of Canada’s indie music community crop.  It can be difficult to stand out amongst 600+ bands and endless amounts of showcases and parties.  But if you ask anyone who knows, they’ll tell you that the official Young Lions Music Club showcase is the place to be on the Friday night.
